Chocolatiers Fassbender & Rausch in Berlin

Hi everyone,

today I have a different kind of post for you. Instead of giving you top 5 or 10 of anything, I just wanted to share a fun experience with you. Over the easter weekend I had friends in town, so we went out exploring together. I always enjoy these visits, because usually my friends have a few ideas about where to go and then I get to check out some new spots in Berlin.
That’s exactly how it was this time. After I showed my girls my favorite spots in Berlin, and then they told me about the Chocolatiers Fassbender&Rausch they’ve read about on the internet. So we went to see their shop and restaurant at the Gendarmenmarkt.

The shop is amazing. I guess the most impressive part are the chocolate sculptures of famous Berlin sights. See for yourself:

After looking at all the wonderful chocolate creations, we literally wanted to buy everything in the store. In order to control ourselves, we decided to get some hot chocolate in the café/ restaurant upstairs first.
The selection of hot chocolates was as amazing and overwhelming as the shop downstairs. You can choose between two different chocolate bases with different amounts of cocoa (50% or 70%), add flavors like orange or chili, and choose whether to top this little dream with cream or milk foam. For me, that was a no-brainer, I instantly went for the dark chocolate with chili flavor and milk foam and it was just amazing.

What I didn’t expect, was the huge selection of small cakes. Every single one looked more delicious and appealing than the next. The added bonus was the perfect labeling of allergens, so I was even able to found a piece of gluten free deliciousness for myself.

It sure was heaven. Even if it seemed small in the beginning, the amount of chocolate, nougat, and sugar was more than enough. Not enough to prevent us from picking up some bits and pieces on our way out though 😉
PS: If you ever go there, don’t forget to look for the chocolate volcano!!

Hope you enjoyed this kind of post

Yours, Juliet
